Recently we heard from a Good News Club volunteer about a little boy in her club named Isaiah. Isaiah has faithfully attended club this year, but he is often disruptive and has ongoing discipline issues, so having him in club hasn’t been easy, that is, until a few weeks ago. A few weeks ago, Isaiah’s behavior dramatically improved. In fact, his turn around was so unusual that the school faculty were even commenting on it. Isaiah’s Good News Club teachers asked him about this dramatic change. “I believed in Jesus and was baptized!” was his answer to their question. Isaiah’s change of heart wasn’t a result of any behavior modification or new discipline technique, it was because he had met Jesus. What a difference it makes when any of us comes face-to-face with the good news of the Gospel in the person and work of Jesus Christ!
“Turn around and believe that the good news that we are loved is better than we ever dared hope, and that to believe in that good news, to live out of it and toward it, to be in love with that good news, is of all glad things in this world the gladdest thing of all.” ~ Frederick Buechner
How glad we are to live with this good news in our hearts, and to live out of it in service to those around us! Because of Good News Club and faithful volunteers, children just like Isaiah are meeting Jesus as their Savior. Currently we have 121 Good News Clubs in the state of Missouri with 3,503 children enrolled. We are so thankful that thousands of children are hearing the good news of the Gospel in Good News Club each week. It is “the gladdest thing of all.”
